The Fort Totten Public School Board made a very difficult decision to end the Four Winds-Minnewaukan sports co-op with Minnewaukan Public School at the Annual Board meeting held on July 2, 2025. We understand that this decision has raised concerns within our community, and we want to reassure you that it was not made lightly or in haste.
Several factors were carefully considered, including student enrollment numbers, participation rates, and financial sustainability. Our primary goal remains to maintain a high standard of extracurricular activities, while ensuring these opportunities are feasible and beneficial for all of our students.
While the co-op will officially end after the last day of the 2025-2026 school year, we want to emphasize that the Fort Totten Public School Board members, administrators, and coaching staff are fully committed to ensuring that all students, particularly those from Minnewaukan, continue to have opportunities to participate in the activities that matter most to them. We will work closely with the North Dakota High School Activities Association, coaches, athletes, and families to explore options for students to continue their high school athletic careers, with and without varsity participation consequences.
We recognize the importance of these programs for our students, and we remain dedicated to providing a path forward that supports their continued growth, both academically and in extracurricular activities. Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we navigate this process. We will keep coaches informed, and as additional information becomes available, we will ensure they share it with players and their families.
